*#Peace-Building#: Foundation For Partnership Initiatives In The Niger-Delta Region (PIND) Embarked On Niger-Delta Peace & Security Network Meeting With CSOs, NGOs, CBOs, Others In Asaba.*

A Nigeria Non-governmental Organization based in the Niger-Delta Region working on the thematic areas of Conflict Prevention and Economic Development known as Foundation For Partnership Initiatives In The Niger-Delta Region (PIND) has said its leadership is committed to effective and efficient coordination of organizations; CSOs, NGOs, CBOs, Peace Actors and other critical stakeholders towards contributing to peace and stability by directly and deliberately addressing drivers of conflicts for Socio-economic development of Niger-Delta Region.

The media learnt this from the Partners For Peace Network Coordinator In The Niger-Delta Region (P4P), High Chief Lawal Africas during a one day Niger-Delta Peace And Security Network Meeting held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Villa Toscana Hotels, Asaba, Delta State capital on the theme: ” Promoting Coordination of All Organizations Working In The Niger-Delta Region On Peace And Security”.

The event witnessed capacity building of leaders of various Civil Society, Non-governmental, Community-based Organizations, Government representatives as they were groomed on conflict analysis, major key messages on how to prevent, mitigation, manage conflicts and control the escalation of violence in the Niger-Delta Region.

Present a world-class lecture on conflict prevention at the event, the Coordinator of the Partners For Peace Network In The Niger-Delta Region, High Chief Lawal Africas highlighted some of the various key messages and strategies to apply on conflict prevention where stakeholders are involved such as identify, map out, learn about them, engage, monitor, think about them and ensure that the actors and drivers and we’ll represented during the course of dialogue.

High Chief Lawal Africas while appealing to Non -State Actors, Peace Actors and other critical stakeholders in Delta State so as Profer solutions to various trends and dynamics of conflicts in the States, stated that ” recent statistics by seasoned Professionals has shown the regional fatalities on conflict trends And dynamics in that the nine Niger-Delta States with Imo State, followed by Delta State, Ondo, Rivers, Abia, Cross-Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa as State with the lowest fatalities between January- October, 2022 amongst other crimes prevalent in the Niger-Delta Region. He stressed on the need for commitment on the part of the Peace actors in Delta State, Niger-Delta Region so as to Checkmate the anticipated political violence in forthcoming general elections.
During the interactive session, it was a good opportunity for Civil Society, Non-governmental, Community-based Organizations leaders, Security Agencies, and other critical stakeholders to highlights some of the challenges facing Conflict Management in the Niger-Delta Region amidst the increasing insecurity in Nigeria ranging from herdsmen attack, militancy, Kidnapping, ritual Killings, Assassination, Rape, Armed Robbery, oil bunkering, Gender based violence, political violence and others to mention but a few.

Stakeholders suggested various ways to checkmate the rising insecurity in the Niger-Delta Region by calling on Traditional Rulers to live up to expectations, parents to be up and doing in children upbringing, political leaders to be exemplary, maintain goodwill, spread democratic dividends to the grassroots by reducing poverty, Promoting Youths and Women employment, empowerment, avoid political interference in time of settling land, Communal and other types of conflicts, Government to make policies to regulate the rise in various types crimes, Youths Cultural orientation and Education, promotion of cultures, values system and other solutions for a peaceful and economically sustained Niger-Delta Region.
